The c s a fair or not?

the csa have just informed my husband that his payments are going to be £549 a month,im going out of my mind with worry as i dont know how we can manage this along with our mortgage reypayments.my husband was unemployed when the csa first took on the case which was in 2001 so he falls under the old csa rules for working out payments, which includes my wage too.however after 2003 the new rules came into effect and seem to be a much fairer way of working out payments, and do not include my income.i met my husband in 2004, is it fair that i should be included in there calculations,i have to add that i love my step children, but this seems unjust.both children have left school ones 17 and the others16.

The c s a fair or not?
there is being fair and there is being abused by the system,of course the childrens welfare is always top priority, which you seem to understand, the csa wants its pound of flesh, regardless of the individual circumstances of the families involved.today it seems that pound of flesh is yours.good luck.xxx
Reply:If they have left school then the payments should stop.....unless they are going to college and they can be extended. I was paying £308 for one child when I was working and when I retired early I was paying £165 a month from my works pension. Those payments have now stopped as he is 16 and has left school........So unless something has changed drastically during the last year then you should not be paying unless it is arrears.

Best wishes, Mike.
Reply:From the way you have worded your question it makes no sense, except like most FEMALES these days you want your and to eat it as well.
Reply:It is massively unfair that your wages are taken into account. You should definately not be included in the calculation now. Speak tot hem again and if you can't get it sorted go to the Citizens Advice. Like you said you have a mortgage. I cannot understand why he has to pay at all if both kids have left school. I thought it was only schoolkids that had to be paid for. Definately get advice on this -I think the CSA are out of order and in the wrong here.
Reply:This sound a rather high amount. I receive csa awarded maintenance for my daughter who is still at school, I am a loan parent and her farther re married about 6 years ago and has no children and is in the higher wage bracket 30k plus and I receive about £250 less than your husband is paying. My payments are also worked out with the old method of calculation, maybe your husband could apply for travelling expenses and if you have a home improvement load this can be off-set against your payments, I know these and many more to be fact as at one point my ex had is payments reduced to less than £70 per month after falsely claiming for these things.
Reply:this csa is a waste of time and a massive drain on the countrys money trying to get fathers and mothers to pay.

The counrty would be better of not paying the csa and paying the money out to familys,

The the goverment like jobsworths, and is creating jobs with csa..
