Grades in your junior year of highschool?

All through highschool my grades have always been a B or above, this year (my junior year) i'm taking a lot of difficult classes, and in my AP US History class, I have a C, i'm freaking out cause isn't junior year the most important year that colleges look at your grades?

And i have been doing well in any of the tests we take in AP history (mainly cause i have so little time for hw, it takes 30 min to go to and from school, I get home at around 5 pm, and I have to wake up at 5 am just to get to school..i have my license but i have no car of my own yet)

will colleges not be interested at me cause i have a C?

how do i manage my time for hw and studying?

whatever you're doing outside of school , you can put on hold - at least temporarily. Devoting more time to getting a tutor or understanding key concepts is important. US History AP will give you credit for humanities at an engineering or science school , at best. i suggest you take heavy math classes (AP or Honors Calculus, if you're taking pre-calc).

Colleges don't just look at your junior year grades.they look at your entire transcript, but that's usually after you've been accepted just to make sure you didnt slack off senior year. they look at if you challenged yourself - if you get a C in AP it's better than an A in general or a B in honors/college prep. remember, they see that you're pushing yourself. and if you go for an interview for whatever school's your applying to, make sure they know you applied yourself and challenged yourself by taking AP.

get a tutor!! it's worth it!
Reply:What are your goals as far as where you want to get in? B/C students get in to many good schools. The chances of getting into Ivy League is probably not probable but it's also not impossible either, just not likely. So don't worry about not getting into ANY college. You will get in if you apply to sufficiently enough number of schools (4-7 is good range).

As far as your reasons why you aren't doing well. I'm not too sympathetic there. Excuses are like bu**holes. Everyone has one and they all stink. I played football in fall, wresting in winter, and track in spring while taking 7 AP classes my senior year. I always got home around 6-7 after practice, had dinner, did homework for about 2 hours until I passed out asleep from exhaustion, and then woke up each morning at 4:30 am to finish my homework before leaving for school around 6:30 am. I did homework during lunch and before practice. I worked really really hard and it paid off. I got in to several Ivy League schools and ended up valedictorian. I'm not bragging just to brag but to give an example of overcoming hardships and not succumbing to them. I'm sure there's a guy who did the same thing I did while only having one leg and one eye and also being deaf and paralized. There's aways someone who's working harder to demonstrate the power of human perseverence.

So my advice is to work harder. Get help if you need it in subject areas that are giving you trouble. Talk to your teachers and ask for help and sincerely work for it instead of just giving it lip service. Teachers love students that want to do better.

Don't worry about the C. It's in the past. Focus on getting better grades. Don't think all As are out of question. If you work hard and have a good plan and execute it, you can get all As. It will take hard work but it's possible.

Time management is a skill like any other. Be sure to get enough regular sleep as well, get plenty of daily exercise (you'll have more energy from it), focus on things you can do and have control over. Don't stress over the things you can't control (like not having a car). Can do attitude and perseverence and having heart takes you farther than smarts.
Reply:im a junior too and i have A's, B's, and a C in ap calc. get involved in activities outside of school, if you aren't doing so already, like sports, or volunteer work.
Reply:You still have from 5- 12 to do homework. That's 7 hours! Just kidding, I guess. If you improve next semester it will be OK. Try to slack off in some subjects and use that time to study for the classes you need more time in.
