What can i do to change my grades tremendously?

School starts in one week and i will be a sophomore. Last year was tough but i managed to get all C's in my finals. I would love to get all A's. Any strategies that you have used or something.. anything? thanks.

What can i do to change my grades tremendously?
Are you in high school or college?

If you are in college, i have some tips for you.

1. Spend Monday-Thursday nights working on homework. Get all of your assignments done on these nights (which are usually boring anyway), then spend Friday-Sunday doing whatever you want.

2. Go to all of your classes everyday. Every class that i have attended every lecture in the semester, i have got an A in. Every class that i have ditched a bunch of lectures, i have done poorly in.

3. Take notes while in class. Don't just sit there and do nothing. I have seen people show up and just sit there for an hour, then after the tests, they are the ones saying that they didn't get any of it.

4. Give yourself time to study for tests and to do papers. A lot of people do like to wait until the last minute to study. Cramming on the last night doesn't work because that isn't how humans learn. You can't read a bunch of stuff and then repeat it on a test 10 hours later. You need time to process info, so spending a few days studying is way more effective.

5. Do all of the assignments. Don't think just because an assignment is worth very few points, that you shouldn't do it. I had a class that every week had assignments that were each worth next to nothing, so i didn't waste my time. However, when the 16 of them were added up, suddenly they were worth quite a bit. Every little bit helps and the small assignments are good for beating information into your brain, so do them.

6. Read the book. This is something new for me too but since i have done it, suddenly everything seems to flow a lot easier. It is the repetition that will help you learn. Actually reading the book could do wonders (at least i hope it will).

7. Never underestimate the difficulty of a class. I have had classes that i thought were guarnteed A's that i ended up barley passing.

8. Go to Ratemyprofessors.com before signing up for classes. I have found that the teacher of a class can make all of the difference. I have had classes with crappy teachers that had information that i just couldn't understand. Then it was revisited in other classes with different teachers and it all made sense. Make sure you get good teachers.
