I am afriad in staying in honors classes?

Okay well, im in 7th grade. School started yesterday... today was the 2nd say of school and today we acually started a regular schdule and had our full classes. Today was also the day i found im in 7th honors math class!!!! i was like freaking out... i mean i did see alot of smart people in my class and most think i am a " smart " person, but i dont think im all that good in school. but thats just my opinion on myself. so last year, my lowest grade in math was C- in late february. i managed to pull my grade up to a B by april then on my final score i got an A- but i really didnt expect to be in an honors math. see, math is my worst subject,

my parents are soooo excited that im in pre-algebra in 7th grade

what should i do? should i tell my parents i want to swtich to a regular class? should i just stay and do whatever comes my way?

Yo i better not fail, i have a rep.

I know exactly how you feel. I took pre-algebra in 7th grade also, and math was not my best subject. I think you should stick it out. The school wouldn't have put you in the class if the class were too advanced for you. You just have to keep on top of your assignments. So much of math builds upon previously-learned concepts that if you fall behind, you'll be in real trouble.

If you don't understand something, get help quickly so you won't fall into an "I can't do it" mentality. If you make sure you really *understand* the concepts (don't just memorize), you'll be fine.

Good luck!
Reply:You should give it a shot for about a week or two and see if the material is too hard or confusing for you. If it's too hard then you can talk with your teacher or guidance counselor about changing your schedule. It probably will be a bit more challenging of a class, but don't give up on yourself so easily, I'm sure you'll be able to pull through. However, if the class really isn't for you don't just stick with it because your parents want you to. It's your decision. Good luck! =]
Reply:Why not give it a try for a week and see how you feel about it then? Also, see if you can make an appointment to talk to your school guidance counselor about it, and he or she can probably explain to you the reasons to be in the honors math class. It sounds like you really worked hard in math last year, so they recognize that you can do it. Best of luck with it.
Reply:NO keep it up. That is the best thing for you. Stay in all the advanced classes. Honors classes look great on your transcript and it will make things easier on you in college... and plus you will be known as someone with brains. boys/girls like that... and you will attract other smart friends :)
Reply:Just because its labeled an honors course, don't get overwhelmed! They may move at a faster pace, but if you begin the school year at that pace then you will get through it fine!
