Some sentences im havng difficulty with?

1) I was in the ... of despair before i heard the good news.


A: pits B: abyss C: depths D: valley





2) The girl managed to .... a conversation while doing her homework


A: carry out B: keep up C: make out D: go on





3) Local residents have complained about the music constantly .... from the club.


A: blaring B: roaring C: booming D: thundering





4) The film's success is amazing .... the poor reviews it has recieved.


A: considering B: seeing C: remarking D: evaluating








Your answers could be like 1-a 2-c and so on .. :D thanks

By the way, not a lot of people would use #1 the way it is. Most people would say something like "Wow, I felt like crap until I heard the good news." (Or something like that.)

2) The girl managed to keep up a conversation while doing her homework. (A would be correct if it was "carry on" and you can not "make out" a conversation or "go on" a conversation.)





3) Local residents have complained about the music constantly blaring from the club. (B, C and D do not fit because they are not constant sounds like blaring.)





4) The film's success is amazing considering the poor reviews it has recieved. (This sentence is comparing the success of the film versus the reviews it has received. B would be a use of bad grammar. C and D do not help in the comparison used in the sentence.)
