How could i leave my CPU fan unplugged?!!!?

Hi i just installed my new motherboard and i have a AMD opteron 175





i did everything but plug the CPU fan in, i just put speedfan on to se my CPU at 84 degrees C





i have managed to fix this all and put my fan on MAX and it is now 25 degrees C





does anyone know whether this will have caused any lasting damage. the computer has been on for about 3 hours:45 but has been basically sitting there running no program etc





please i don't want a CPU with a lifespan of about 2 more days

How could i leave my CPU fan unplugged?!!!?
You can always try running some programs or play some games, WITH THE FAN PLUGGED IN, and see if you experience any difficulties running them. Or, did you smell anything burning from the processor? Usually, without a fan, your CPU should have in smokes rightaway. You can also try opening it and see if anything's wrong with it.





Lesson: DO NOT EVER UNPLUG THE FAN FROM THE CPU!!!
Reply:The CPU fan is there for a purpose! You're just asking for a destroyed CPU unless you hook that fan up!
