Anyone Got Into UK Nursing?

Without A Math's GCSE??

I'm a mature student, and I know they are often less strict on qualification requirements...but I have a sneaky feeling, they are still going to want a Math's GCSE...typical, the one I don't have!!

I'm willing to re-take it, but am not holding out any hope that I'd manage to get an A-C grade...don't suppose you can buy qualifications these days lol??

They don't ask for maths for the hell of it. As a nurse you will be responsible for some quite complex drug calculations, dosages, frequency, drip rates etc. By trying to bypass this most basic of qualifications, you will be putting your patients at risk.
Reply:I know someone who's a male and has gone into nursing i laugh at him all the time and make fun out of him he wasn't really clever he got C's and B's in his GCSE's so i think you'll do fine. It's English literature that is the most important get a pass in that then you'll be fine
Reply:hi

i started my nurse training in 2005 i had a maths gcse. as you are a mature student they will not ask u to retake maths GCSE but they will request that you undertake a maths key skill before you commence on the course. ask about this at your interview.

good luck
Reply:You will need to be able to manage maths at a reasonable level (think of all those drug calculations you will have to do without making a mistake!), I retook mine after getting a D and ended up with a B! It's much easier when you are an adult and truly understand why you are learning something. If you phone your university they will tell you all about the current requirements. Good luck with it.
