My documents, how to hide?

There are two accounts on my comuter, one for me, one for my housemate. My house mate went into "my computer" - "disk c"-"documents and settings".

Then managed to access all my documents in my "my documents" folder. She has a seperate folder for her documents. In my folder, I keep a lot of personal information, and word files that I don't want anybody else to see. How can I prevent this happening again, is there a way I can lock the"my documents" folder by way of a password, etc.? She accessed it from her account. Thanks.

My documents, how to hide?
This depends on what version of Windows you are using. If you are using Windows 98 your best bet is to get a Flash drive. This is a small device that plugs into your computer via a USB port (rectangular port rather than the round port that your mouse plugs into). You can keep all of your documents on the Flash drive and keep them with you. (I wear mine around my neck on a little cord).

If you have Windows XP make sure each of you has your own account set up with your own passwords. Remember, administrators can get into everything so you don't want your housemate's account to be an administrator account, just a regular user.

If you have Windows XP and your housemate DOES have an administrator account and it would be impractical or politically inappropriate for you to reduce her account to a regular user then use the Flash drive option.

Good Luck!

Reply:creat a user account password on your desktop make sure you copy down the password so you dont forget it , then you lock them out
Reply:Heres what you do, go into your documents folder. Under file, and new, select "compressed zip folder". Dump all your documents and files that you don't want her to have access to into the compressed folder. Then open the folder, and click file. Click Add a password.

This will password protect the documents in this folder. She can still open the folder to see whats in there, but if she tries to open any of the files, it'll prompt her for the password.
Reply:create a password go to star control panel then clinck in accounts and put a password but don't forget to put private
Reply:Right click your My Documents folder

Choose Properties

Under the sharing tab, select the make this folder private option
