Prenatals make me sick ..?

hey, i am 14.5 weeks with my 3rd baby .. with every pregnancy my prenatals made me sick so i just used the over the counter ones .. Stuart Prenatals .. my dr was fine with it before, but now she tells me that they found that there is not enough folic acid in it to help the baby .. so i said well the other ones make me sick, so a little less folic acid would be better than none at all right ?? but she told me to try really hard to get the vitamins she prescribed down for the sake of my baby .. i took one yesterday , and about 20 min. later was hugging the potty .. then today i took another, but i managed to keep it down b/c i was driving home from the hospital .. but now i feel like crap !! my head hurts and i just feel like i am car sick .. i haven*t been car sick since i was 5 !! so i am guessing that it is from the pills .. anything work or help anyone else with this problem ?? should i try taking them right before bed ?? maybe that would help ??!! any thoughts or suggestions ??!!??!

Prenatals make me sick ..?
Always take your prenatals after you eat. I had the same problem so I would eat then take them right before bed.Try that.
Reply:take your pill at night. it helps a lot.
Reply:If the only thing you aren't getting enough of is Folic Acid, maybe just buy folic acid pills in the vitamin section until you are further along and can handle the prenatal pills.

If it is a matter of them making you sick, I would just eat more foods containing high folic acid (look them on the internet, bananas I think is a good one) and take the vitamins when your body can handle it.

I barely remembered to take my prenatal or folic acid pills...I am healthy and my daughter is healthy.
Reply:for some of them u can take them before bed thats wat i did its helps. right now im taking Tandem they work well and dont make me sick
Reply:You can take the stuart prenatals and get an extra pill of folic acid over the counter at the pharmacy. All together you need 1 mg a day.
Reply:I always had a hard time with the vitamins my ob prescribed whether I took them before bed time or not. I was really worried about taking them this pregnancy. I bought some from Target, and I have not had any problems at all. They are Target brand prenatal vitamins. I take them around 8 pm when I know I have enough food in me so they don't upset my stomach....

I just noticed on the front they say, "compare to Stuart prenatal"..... I checked the folic acid and it says 100%... how could that not be enough..?? I don't understand...?? You could try them... or just take two flinstone vitamins instead. Good luck!
Reply:i got lucky and mine never made me sick. just everything else i swallowed. one of my friends just had a baby in november, and she was healthy. her vitamins made her sick, so her doctor told her to take childrens instead. one in the morning and one at night. just make sure there is folic acid in them. hope you feel beter. good luck!
Reply:I find that no name brand prenatal vitamins upset my stomach less, than say materna.

Also take them at night.

Like my best results was with Exact (walmart brand) they have plenty folic acid and I wasn't puking!

Sorry to hear about your son and husband, but honestly theres only so much you can do. Espeically if genetics come into play. No amount of folic acid will change genetics.
Reply:Is she prescribing some special prenatel for you? All prenatel vitamins no matter the brand are pretty much the same int eh amount of vitamins they contain. I checked out four or five diffrent brands when I first got pregnant and I went with the wal-mart brand which was EXACTLY the same as materna (or whatever it is called) I also took a folic acid suppliment besides my prenatels. They were just a regular jamison brand folic acid.
Reply:you know when i was pregnant with my 3rd one its the same thing the vitamins made me sick.....tried others...took it @ night......crackers.....but @ the end my doctor told me to just stop taking them....tried it when i was 5-6 months and it was fine....sometimes i think the stomach is just a little sensitive...best wishes!!!
Reply:What I do is, when I get up, I eat, then for about an hour I snack on crackers, take my prenatal, then eat the last few crackers and drink lots of milk, the one day I didn't do that it made me so sick. Hopefully that'll help you.
Reply:are you taking them with food? that might help....i did not take them with my 2 kids cause it made me feel awful- i took flinstone vitamins........if you absolutely can not handle them by all means, take the ones you can. it is better then nothing. there is nothing wrong with your other two right?? so why all of a sudden it is bad for you to take what you can?
Reply:My Dr told me I can take Flinestone vitamin's in the morning and at night but the vitamin has to have something extra but I cannot think of it. Call your Dr's office and ask a nurse, they should be able to help you.
Reply:I had the exact same problem. My doctor had me take flinstone vitamins. No problems after that.Good Luck and I feel for you.. Morning sickness is the worst. i used to not be able to make the whole drive to work (which was only like 10 minutes) without pulling over and hurling out the door! :) I found that things like yogurt and string cheese helped out with my morning sickness.
Reply:I took a herbal prenatal, don't recall the name, but maybe if you have a Herbal Store (or whatever they are called) i would go and talk to the pple there. There is also Materna here in Canada. I'm assuming you are from the states as i haven't heard of Stuarts Prenatals.

I worked with someone who said she stopped taking them all together cause they were making her sick and her son was and still is healthy. But i wouldn't suggest that.
