Reply:While they are appointed for life, Supreme Court justices can be impeached just like The President can. Many conservatives tried to get enough votes in congress 40 years ago to impeach Justice Douglass, but were unsuccessful.
The power to make treaties could account for The LA Purchase. The power to admit states did not come into play, since it was bought as a territory and only could become states when the citizens of the territory applied for admission to The Union by popular vote and were accepted by Congress. I think more than one state came out of the LA Purchase (can anyone correct me on that?)

Reply:For the first, it technically is F, but it is a stretch. President Jefferson agonizied over whether or not he had to power to purchase lands, and decided that it was best for the country to buy the lands, even if it wasn't a power he was expressly given in the Constitution. Also blew his attempts to get the budget under control.
For the second the answer is D. This same caveat applies to all federal judges by the way, not just Supreme Court Justices. Also, no Supreme Court Justice has ever been removed through impeachment, and the impeachment of Justice Chase proved that you cannot impeach a Justice for their decisions, only for a crime.
Hope that helps!
Reply:To remove a judge he or she would have to be impeached
