I was always horrible at math but somehow managed to graduate from high school by barely getting a c in pre algebra. I'd like to know where I can go to get help. I know many of the good jobs out there are math and science related and I'm concerned I won't be able to get one unless I can learn advanced math, which of course means I have to get help and find out if I have a disability. Thank you.
How can I find out if I have a learning disability in higher math (algebra, ect)?
One aspect of a learning disability is that the person struggles in just one academic area. However, more than likely the problem is how you have been taught math. I suggest you go back as far as you need to go to pick up concepts you have missed. If that means returning to some elementary concepts then so be it.
Reply:You should get tested by a Psychologist.
Reply:I think you'd be ahead to persue a career that doesn't involve math.
Reply:The two hemispheres of the brain are dominant at different tasks. The right hemisphere is concerned with abstract thinking, geometry, mathematical concepts, while the left hemisphere deals with sentence construction, vocabulary, emotion etc. You have a disability if your verbal IQ is at or above normal while your mathematical IQ is below normal.
I believe such IQ tests are conducted. Find out from your guidance counsellor
